"All my dogs have been a ladder for me to God." Poppy's Mom

And God gives us these little ones, loving, forgiving, and comforting us, and knowing that we are physical beings, he gives us these little creatures to hug and kiss, to nourish and fulfill our need to touch, especially when we are alone.

A New Story in My Life - Rizz

Well a new story in my life has begun. Donna Curry has been my friend since she began staying in my home through Airbnb. I have met her daughter Nayo (No. 16) who plays volleyball for Ole Miss. As mentioned in an earlier post, I also have met Nayo's Dad, Brother DJ (he is a senior in high school, plays football and is 6'2" - off to play college ball in fall) and Grandmother as well as her dog Rizz. This is a fine Christian family.
Rizz is about six months old, 40 pounds. He is a black golden doddle. This was an oops as Nayo realized that she needed to rehome Rizz since she travels all the time with the volleyball team and in classes, away from home so much.
To make a long story short, Rizz has a new home with me with the family backing my efforts. He is adorable - sweet and loving. Great to hug and follows my every step. Soft hair and asleep at my feet at the moment. His father was a black poodle and mother a golden retriever. He loves my big yard and runs and runs while we play pitch. Sweet Ben, my malti-pom, does not know what to think but he knows how to growl to set boundaries. I no longer need to work out at the exercise facility, and I no longer sleep late as Rizz wakes up at 7:00 am. He sits on command and gives me a paw to shake.
We are in love.

UPDATE:  As I learned more and more about Doodle puppies and experienced Rizz, I realized that I was too old and he was too young for me.  We went through obedience training together, and he did well.  However, he needed a playmate his size - another dog.  I contacted IDog Rescue for doodles in Texas.  They picked him up and in a few weeks he had a new home with another doodle.  He left me weighing about 55 pounds and still growing.  I know he is so happy in his new home.  I highly recommend IDog Rescue.
